NextWorld Capital Thought Leadership Forums bring together executives from our European Advisor network and from leading startups. On November 29th, 2016 in Paris, we hosted an edition focused on Artificial Intelligence. The technology has been much talked about for decades but our partner Ben Fu presented why we think the time has finally come for AI to have a major impact on all businesses. After a succession of AI winter and springs, the AI summer has finally come.

The first panel focused on “At the edge of Innovation”, looking at which disruption and changes will AI bring to companies. This was addressed by the following speakers :

  • Luc Bretones (Orange — EVP Technocentre and Orange Vallée)
  • Denis Gardin (Airbus — SVP New Technology Venture)
  • Rand Hindi (Snips — CEO)
  • Daniel Rubio (Airmap-CTO)

The second panel dealt with how to get started and how to best run AI project, ie “Leveraging AI now”. This was covered by :

  • Vincent Belrose (Axa — Group Chief Technology Officer)
  • Florian Douetteau (Dataiku — CEO)
  • Vincent Heuschling (Affinitech — CEO)
  • Sasha Pesic (Airware — General Manager)

Here are some the 4 take aways from the panels :

  • Chatbots will be rolled out to optimize customer interactions
  • Voice interface will be the new way to interact
  • Insurance will be a major adopter of AI from chatbots to claim management automation and fraud prevention
  • AI is the key enabler for self driving cars and automated drones
